We hope that you have a lovely summer and look forward to seeing the children back at school on Tuesday 3 September.

Phonics, Reading and Maths Schemes

In some year groups we use a maths scheme called ‘Maths No Problem’ which is based on a Singaporean approach to teaching maths. Singapore has the highest standards of maths achievement in the world in international comparisons.

We use a wide range of different reading schemes which have been ‘banded’ so that books with a similar ‘reading age’ are brought together in one box so that we can more easily match the right book to your child.

We have introduced Read Write Inc, a literacy scheme, to Reception, Year 1, Year 2 and any other children in the school who may need extra support. By the end of Year 2 children will be expected to be reading fluently and expressively and to be independent readers.
